Army Chief General Asim Munir has not received any letter from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, said security sources on Tuesday, adding that they learned about the letter through the media.
The statement came after PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan’s told the media that former prime minister Imran Khan wrote a letter to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, asserting the “need to reevaluate policy.
Gohar also said that the text of the letter would be made public.
However, the security sources expressed their uncertainty about the letter, stating that while they heard that Imran Khan wrote a letter to the army chief, no such letter had been received.

Meanwhile, PTI is awaiting a response, as the PTI Chairman stated, “we would welcome the reply from the army chief on Imran Khan’s letter.”
Gohar further clarified that he was unaware of the letter's contents, making it clear that he was told by Khan that he wrote a letter to the army head.
Earlier, Barrister Gohar spoke to the media, explaining that the former prime minister, as the head of the largest political party, intended to point out several issues creating a widening gap between the citizens and the establishment.
“This [mistrust] should not exist at all, but there are certain reasons because of which this gulf is widening,” Gohar quoted Khan.

According to Gohar, the letter highlighted key factors contributing to the growing divide between the establishment and the public.
These include the contentious 2024 elections, the passage of the 26th amendment, and the recent implementation of the Peca Act.
Additionally, the letter touched on how social media platforms are being targeted to stifle dissenting voices.
