The Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Boshehra, Upper Kurram, was injured in an armed attack by unidentified assailants, police reported on Friday.
The incident marks another disruption to the region’s fragile peace efforts.
The attack comes weeks after warring tribal factions reached an agreement to restore peace in Kurram.
However, the accord suffered a significant blow last month when Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud was wounded in a similar firing incident.

Despite security measures and official interventions, violence has resurfaced.
According to authorities, AC Saeed Manan was in the area with police personnel when the attackers opened fire on him. He was swiftly transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
In response, a heavy police contingent launched a search operation to apprehend the assailants.
Meanwhile, a grand jirga commenced at the Commissioner House in Kohat to discuss measures for lasting peace in Kurram.
The jirga is being attended by Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, along with Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed.
Military officials, peace committee members, and tribal elders from both Upper and Lower Kurram are also participating in the deliberations.
