In a move to minimise distractions and enhance focus on their duties, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has banned the use of social media for on-duty police personnel.
The decision was made during a review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, where she directed to ensure fool-proof security arrangements on Eid Milad-ul-Nabi (PBUH).
The meeting also saw a proposal to increase the number of provincial border posts, which was approved along with the allocation of bulletproof vehicles and jackets worth Rs1 billion for police personnel.
CM Maryam directed police officers to make fool-proof security arrangements and to take proactive measures against criminals and anti-social elements without discrimination.
"Whatever needs to be done for the protection of the people will be done," she vowed in the meeting.
"Action should be taken against criminals and anti-social elements without discrimination, and the police should develop the capability of pre-emptive action without waiting for the crime to be committed," CM added.
Maryam Nawaz also directed that those who attack police checkposts should receive a strong response.
The measures aim to enhance the security and effectiveness of the Punjab police force.
