Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Tuesday said that “propaganda, fake news or externally-sponsored terrorism” could not derail Pakistan’s progress during his visit to Quetta, according to the military’s media wing.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the field marshal interacted with officers and troops of formations deployed in Balochistan and reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its forms.
“The field marshal emphasised that Pakistan’s destined rise cannot be obstructed through propaganda, fake news or externally sponsored terrorism,” the ISPR quoted him as saying.
He added that hostile forces attempting to undermine Pakistan through “proxies and propaganda” would fail due to the resilience of the state and unity among the people.
Highlighting the prevailing security situation, Field Marshal Munir said sustainable peace and stability in Balochistan depended on a people-centric approach, inclusive development and improved governance alongside security measures.
The military chief also appreciated the efforts of the Balochistan government in promoting public welfare and socio-economic uplift in the province.
During the visit, he addressed student officers and faculty members at the Command and Staff College Quetta, where he stressed the importance of adapting to the changing nature of warfare, including cyber and electronic warfare, drones, artificial intelligence and multi-domain operations.
Upon arrival in Quetta, the field marshal was received by the Quetta Corps commander.
