“If anything untoward happens to me, it’s on those defaming me on social media”: Ashfaque Satti on domestic violence allegations

Anchorperson Ashfaque Ishaq Satti responded to the domestic violence allegations made by his second wife, Nomaika Satti. He defended himself, urging that instead of a media trial, the matter should be left for the court to decide. He emphasised that he is currently experiencing severe mental stress.

In a Facebook video statement, he stated, "Just like there are two sides to a picture, there are two sides to any story. The fact is, every husband and wife have quarrels in Pakistan."

The anchorperson expressed his displeasure over his defamation due to the reported quarrel with his wife. He lamented that his “personal life is being discussed publicly, involving matters that no one is aware of,” which he deeply regrets.

Ashfaque Satti remarked, "The police are investigating the domestic violence allegations between Nomaika and me; let the court decide the case."

He mentioned the objections being raised on social media regarding his relationship with his third wife, Zara Ansari. Married for three years with a one-and-a-half-year-old child, he clarified that everything related to the marriage with Zara Ansari was known to the second wife and he entered into the third marriage with Nomaika's consent.

Ashfaque Satti mentioned, "Nomaika also had the option of divorce, but she chose to stay with me, taking care of my children. I consistently prioritised her in every matter."

He asserted, "Nomaika demanded that I divorce my third wife, she engaged in blackmailing. This case is currently under court consideration, and I hope for justice."

Ashfaque Ishaq Satti criticised fellow anchorperson Rabia Anam, accusing her of proving himself to be a savage, a beast, and a criminal. He expressed that she is attempting to malign him by sharing false information about his first marriage on social media, contributing to his ongoing struggle with depression.

Moreover, he disclosed facing death threats after pictures of his wife and children surfaced on social media.

Ashfaque Satti mentioned that due to the widespread coverage of his case on social media, his children are unable to attend school. In this distressing situation, he expressed the possibility of contemplating self-harm due to severe mental stress.

The anchorperson revealed the devastating impact on his family, emphasising that “he has nothing to gain but a lot to lose.” He maintained that if anything untoward happens to him, the responsibility would lie with all those defaming him on social media.
