The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted a significant rise in temperature for Karachi today, warning that the mercury is likely to hit 40 degrees Celsius.
According to the Met Office, sea breezes will temporarily come to a halt, allowing dry and hot winds to dominate during the daytime.
However, officials noted that once the sea winds resume, the weather conditions are expected to improve.
Currently, the city is witnessing clear skies with the temperature recorded at 29 degrees Celsius and 46 percent humidity in the air.
Westerly winds are blowing at a speed of 14 kilometres per hour, offering slight relief amid the rising heat.
The Met Office has urged residents to adopt precautionary measures to cope with the soaring temperatures.

Citizens are advised to minimise outdoor activities, stay hydrated with lemon water and beverages, and protect themselves from direct sunlight by using caps or umbrellas.
Despite the heat, Karachi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) remains at a satisfactory level. The city currently holds the 64th position globally on the World Air Quality Index.
However, it has been ranked as the fifth most polluted city in Pakistan.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have advised residents to stay updated on weather forecasts and follow health advisories to prevent heat-related illnesses.
