No foreign pressure for Imran Khan’s release, says Pakistan minister

Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, stated on Monday that there is no international pressure on Pakistan regarding the release of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan.
Speaking to reporters in Sheikhupura, he said that Imran Khan is facing court proceedings and no country has the power to influence these matters.
The minister also expressed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Palestinians amidst ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, urging the global community to strongly condemn the atrocities.
On the economic front, he revealed that a Pakistani delegation would soon visit the United States to negotiate tariff-related issues.
Addressing concerns over wheat procurement, he admitted that the government neither bought wheat from farmers nor paid the support price, but predicted that wheat prices would drop within 10 to 15 days.

Highlighting economic reforms, he mentioned the interest rate had already been reduced from 22% to 12%, with plans to further bring it down to 8–9% soon.
Regarding international cooperation, Hussain hailed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Belarus as a success.
He announced that 150,000 skilled Pakistani workers would soon be employed in Belarus, under a new agreement focused on cooperation in industry, agriculture, and transport sectors.
