Punjab govt’s Aghosh programme: Who can apply and how to get assistance?

The Punjab government has introduced the Aghosh Program, a welfare initiative aimed at enhancing maternal and child health for underprivileged families across 13 districts.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the program provides financial assistance of up to Rs23,000 to pregnant and lactating women and mothers of children up to two years old.
The initiative focuses on safe pregnancies, hospital-based deliveries, and child immunization.
Eligibility and Registration
The program targets women residing in Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Khushab, Layyah, Bahawalnagar, Lodhran, and Taunsa Sharif. Applicants must provide a valid CNIC, proof of pregnancy or childbirth, and medical documentation.

Eligible women can register at government health facilities, including Basic Health Units (BHUs), Rural Health Centers (RHCs), Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals (THQs), and District Headquarters Hospitals (DHQs). Registration is conducted through the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Financial Assistance Breakdown
The Aghosh program offers phased payments, including:
- Rs2,000 upon initial registration
- Rs6,000 for four scheduled antenatal check-ups
- Rs4,000 for delivering at a government health facility
- Rs4,000 for postnatal care and child immunization
- Rs5,000 for registering the child’s birth certificate
Impact and Benefits
The program aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality, improve access to healthcare, and raise awareness about nutrition and hygiene. Beneficiaries must attend scheduled check-ups and maintain updated contact details to continue receiving support.
