The Sindh government has officially banned the practice of presenting Ajrak and Sindhi cap as gifts during school functions as part of a broader directive aimed at minimising ceremonial formalities involving students.
According to a notification issued by the provincial authorities, all educational institutions have been instructed to discontinue the tradition of gifting Ajrak and Topi at official events.
The notification also imposes a complete ban on making students stand in lines to welcome guests during such functions.
The government has termed the use of children for welcoming ceremonies as "inappropriate" and emphasised that schools should focus on academic and developmental priorities rather than ceremonial displays.

The notification clearly warns that strict disciplinary action will be taken against those found violating the directive.
This move is seen as part of the Sindh Education Department's ongoing efforts to create a more student-centred and respectful school environment, free from non-academic obligations.
Earlier, the Sindh government had launched an eye screening initiative for students to identify the increasing impact of mobile phone usage.
The notification issued by the authorities directed the school's head to cooperate with the program, under which students in all districts will undergo eye examinations, and those found in need of glasses will be provided with free glasses.
