The Sindh government has launched the second phase of its People’s Information Technology Program (PITP-II), marked by the signing of MoUs with the Google Digital Journalism Scholarship Program at a ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi.

Addressing the ceremony, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced the launch of the People’s Information Technology Program, calling the success of PITP-I “a matter of pride.”

He said the program had equipped students with global-standard IT skills, enabling more than 4,300 young people to actively contribute to economic activities.

The chief minister highlighted that women’s participation and representation from rural areas had been hallmarks of the program.

For PITP-II, a sum of Rs1.4 billion has been allocated to provide training to 35,000 students. The training will be conducted at NED University, Mehran University, and Sukkur IBA.

As part of the initiative, 1,750 students will be provided with Google Chromebooks, while students from matriculation to graduation, up to the age of 28, will be eligible to apply.

Scholarships will also be awarded to journalists, government spokespersons, and students.
