In a tragic incident in Rajasthan, India, a family returning from a religious trip was swept away in a river after their van followed directions on Google Maps.

According to Indian media reports, the van’s driver relied on the navigation app, which directed them to the Somi Aprida Bridge — a route that had been closed for several months.

Police stated that once the van reached the bridge, it became trapped and was carried away by the river’s strong current.

Authorities confirmed that four people — including two women and two children — lost their lives in the accident. Their bodies have been recovered.

Local residents and emergency workers rescued five others, while search operations was underway.
