WhatsApp has begun rolling out a new offline translation feature for Android users enrolled in its beta program.
This capability, which was first spotted in development last year, is now live for users running beta version 2.25.12.25 and is expected to reach more testers in the coming days.
The key highlight of the feature is its ability to translate messages without requiring an active internet connection.
Users can download specific language packs, enabling real-time translation directly on their devices.
An additional downloadable pack is available to automatically detect and translate the language of incoming messages.
Currently, the feature supports five major languages: Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Hindi, and Russian. Users have the option to enable automatic translations per chat from the chat info screen or translate individual messages manually through the message options menu.

As the translations occur on-device instead of via cloud servers, the accuracy may not match services like Google Translate.
However, Meta has included a feedback option to improve the feature over time, all while maintaining message privacy.
