The Council of Islamic Ideology has announced the Nisab and official rates for Sadaqat-ul-Fitr and Fidya-i-Saum for 2026.

CII Chairman Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi stated the minimum amount of Sadaqat-ul-Fitr and Fidya has been fixed at Rs300 per person based on wheat flour prices. Those opting to pay according to government-subsidised flour can give Rs200 per person.

The rates vary depending on the food staple used for calculation: barley Rs1,100 dates Rs1,600  raisins Rs3,800 dried dates (munaqqa), Rs5,400 per person.

For those unable to fast during Ramadan, the Fidya for 30 missed fasts has also been set according to commodity prices: wheat: Rs9,000, barley: Rs33,000, dates: Rs48,000, raisins: Rs114,000, munqa: Rs162,00,0 and government flour: Rs6,000.

Dr. Naeemi emphasized that Sadaqat-ul-Fitr is obligatory on every Muslim, men, women, adults, and financially capable children, and advised those with greater means to pay above the minimum to increase support for the needy.

On the matter of intentionally breaking a fast, he explained that Kaffarah requires either observing 60 consecutive fasts or feeding 60 needy persons two meals each.
