The condition of roads and sewerage pathways remains dire in New Karachi's Sector 3 like other parts of the port city.
The Dialogue Pakistan team as part of the “Karachi Aisa Nahi Tha” campaign, aiming to shed light on the residents’ struggles, visited the area.
Local residents described the area as neglected, with stagnant sewage making daily travel difficult and posing health risks.
Small open drains without covers are scattered across the neighborhood, worsening the situation. “These roads have been in this condition for 25 to 30 years, and no one takes action,” one resident lamented.
Another resident criticized local authorities for inaction, noting, “Children cannot play safely, and even transporting bodies is a challenge. The government shows no shame in ignoring our plight.”
Women in the community also voiced their concerns, asserting the urgent need for repair and sanitation measures to ensure safe living conditions.
Residents appealed to authorities to take immediate action to address the ongoing infrastructure and public health issues.
