Imran khan’s sisters, PTI protesters again met with water cannons during sit-in outside Adiala jail

A sit-in organized by PTI leaders as well as the sisters of the party’s founder, Imran Khan, who is currently imprisoned, was again broken up using water cannons late at night Tuesday. This comes as a result of the sisters of Imran Khan being denied a meeting with the ex-prime minister despite previous assurances.

Videos posted by the PTI Punjab page on social media platform X after 1am showed water cannon being fired at protesters, who seemed to assembled peacefully in the vicinity. 

Such videos have attracted criticism of the way in which law enforcement agencies are dealing with the situation despite the late hours and chilly weather.

At 4:30 am, the PTI said Aleema Khan was detained, without giving information about the other two sisters. Later, the party said the police shifted her to the Chakri area, where she was released.

Disapproving of the police action, the PTI explained that water cannons were used in extremely low temperatures against unarmed and peaceful citizens, including women and children.

 The party reiterated its position that the sit-in was exclusively for demanding the implementation of court orders related to meeting Imran Khan.
