In yet another tragic incident of street crime in Karachi, a young man was shot and killed during a robbery in Orangi Town after he resisted the assailants. The deceased had returned to Karachi from Saudi Arabia just 13 days ago to attend his father’s funeral.
According to a spokesperson for the Karachi Police, the victim was identified as 25-year-old Jibran Khan, son of Jama Khan. The incident occurred at Gaddafi Chowk, Kala Maidan in Orangi Town, when Jibran resisted two armed robbers.
Jibran was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Police said the bullet struck his jugular vein and exited through his back, causing immediate death.
Relatives, including his cousin Qasim, shared that Jibran was unmarried and the second eldest among five siblings, three sisters and two brothers.

He and his younger brother had been living in Jeddah for the past two and a half years for work. Jibran was employed there as an online food delivery worker.
Their father passed away on the 1st of Muharram, prompting both brothers to return to Karachi on a one-month leave for the funeral.
At the time of the robbery, there was a power outage in the area. Jibran was sitting outside his house (House No. 204) with a local ice vendor when two suspects on a motorcycle approached and began robbing them.

Jibran handed over one of his mobile phones and his wallet, but another phone remained in his pocket. When he resisted further, the robbers opened fire.
The suspects fled the scene with the stolen items. Due to the power outage, no one clearly saw their faces. Police collected the CCTV footage from nearby locations to begin the investigation.
This latest killing brings the total number of people shot dead in the city this year to 50.
