Questions have once again been raised regarding police performance in Karachi after a traffic e-challan for a motorcycle stolen two and a half years ago was sent to the owner’s home.

According to details, the affected citizen’s motorcycle was stolen on April 1, 2023, from Federal B Area, Block 14.

A formal report was filed at the relevant police station in 2023. Despite 32 months having passed, the police have been unable to recover the motorcycle.

Now, 32 months later, the owner has received an e-challan of Rs 5,000 for violating traffic laws while riding the stolen motorcycle.

The notice stated that an unidentified person was seen riding the stolen vehicle near Punjab Chowrangi without a helmet. Receiving the e-challan caused the citizen severe mental distress.

The affected individual immediately filed a complaint at Azizabad Police Station.

The case was subsequently referred to the Anti Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC). Police officials stated that investigations are ongoing and efforts are being made to recover the motorcycle.
