LAHORE: The station house officer (SHO) of Bhati Gate police station has been suspended following the tragic incident in which a woman and her young daughter fell into a sewer and lost their lives.

According to media reports, the SHO was suspended over the incident that occurred near Data Darbar in Lahore’s Bhati Gate area, while a show-cause notice has been issued to the deputy superintendent of police (DSP).

Authorities have also ordered an inquiry to determine the response of the City SP and other relevant police officials.

The investigation will further examine the reasons behind taking the victim’s husband and brother-in-law into custody.

It is recalled that two days ago, a woman and her daughter fell into a sewer line near Data Darbar and died. Initially, police and other concerned departments denied the incident, claiming that no such occurrence had taken place.

However, nearly 10 hours later, the bodies of the woman and her child were recovered from a location approximately three kilometres away.

Following the recovery of the bodies, a case was registered on the complaint of the woman’s father. Under the case, Project Manager Asghar Sindhu, Safety In-charge Daniyal and Site In-charge Ahmed Nawaz were arrested.
