A man was gunned down in front of his children outside his house in Karachi's Orangi Town Sector 11 after putting up minor resistance during a robbery attempt.

Police identified the victim as Sajjad Shaukat, a resident of Faisalabad, who was standing at his doorstep with his children when two armed men on a motorcycle stopped near him.

CCTV footage shows one of the suspects, dressed in white shalwar kameez and a cap, getting off the bike and confronting Sajjad. As Sajjad tried to resist, the suspect opened fire at close range.

The tragic footage further shows that one child was in the victim’s lap and another stood beside him when the shots were fired. As soon as the bullet struck, Sajjad collapsed at his doorstep while the child in his arms rushed inside the house in panic.

Police said the face of the gunman can be clearly seen in the footage, but identifying the second suspect who rode the motorcycle remains a challenge.

Following the incident, DIG West suspended and demoted the SHO of Iqbal Market Police Station over negligence. Officials added that raids are being conducted to trace and arrest the culprits with the help of the CCTV video.
