The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has cut down the electricity price by 93 paisa per unit.
A notification issued by the NEPRA states that the cut is given in the wake of the fuel price adjustment made in November.
The notification states that the relief will be provided to the electricity customers in the country, as well as in Karachi, in the electricity bills for January, while lifeline customers will not benefit from it.
In contrast, the price of electricity has been raised by Rs1.79 per unit by NEPRA with effect from January 1. Beginning from January 2026, the average unit price for electricity has been set at Rs33.38 per unit.
In this context, this decision has already been submitted to the federal government and would be implemented once it is approved by them.
At present, the average rate of the power tariff being charged is Rs31.59 per unit.
