The postmortem report of Syeda Sania Zehra, who was allegedly killed by her husband Syed Ali Raza Bukhari in Multan, has been released, revealing crucial details about her death.
The report stated that the mark on the 20-year-old victim's neck was consistent with a hanging mark, and she "died of asphyxiation due to hanging".
According to the autopsy, there was no fracture in her neck, and no injuries or signs of violence were found on her body.
Samples of her stomach, liver, and spleen were sent to the PFSA for further analysis.
Refuting claims of Sania's father, the report confirmed that she was not pregnant at the time of her death.
The victim girl's father, Syed Assad Abbas Shah, had claimed that his daughter was 5 months pregnant and alleged that her in-laws were trying to cover up the murder.
The police exhumed Sania's body after a court ordered to probe the alleged murder and collect postmortem samples for a forensic report.
The investigation is ongoing, with the police awaiting the forensic report from the PFSA laboratory to confirm the cause of death.
Multan City Police Officer Sadiq Ali Dogar, citing the preliminary postmortem report, said that the woman’s death was due to suicide by hanging.
However, the case was registered under the sections of murder against the husband and in-laws of the victim.
The police are investigating the matter, considering all angles, including the history of suicidal tendencies in the victim's family.
The investigation revealed that the woman's brother had also committed suicide six months ago.
The harrowing incident came to light after an Instagram page, Justice for Sania, shared the details of the ordeal.
The page, citing a forensic report, claimed the victim's husband brutally tortured her, cutting her tongue, breaking her teeth, and crushing her feet.
Sania, who had two boys, 3 years old and 1.5 years old, was also raped before being killed by her husband, her father alleged.
