Imam-ul-Haq has been officially added to Pakistan's Champions Trophy squad following Fakhar Zaman's injury, as the International Cricket Council (ICC) approved the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) request for a replacement batter.
The ICC Event Technical Committee, comprising members such as Wasim Khan, Usman Wahlah, Sarah Edgar, and Sean Pollock, granted permission for Imam's inclusion in the squad.
“Twenty-nine-year-old Imam, who played 72 ODIs, was named as a replacement after Fakhar was ruled out due to an oblique injury,” said the ICC in a press release issued on Thursday.
Fakhar sustained the injury while fielding in the match against New Zealand. As a result, Saud Shakeel opened the innings, while Fakhar batted at number four.
