Former captain of the Pakistan national cricket team Shahid Afridi criticised the Indian government for falsely accusing Pakistan of being involved in the Pahalgam incident, stating that no country or religion supports terrorism.

In a statement, Shahid Afridi slammed the Indian government for not responding to the incident in a timely manner and failing to apprehend the perpetrators, yet quickly shifting the blame to Pakistan.

“For one hour, terrorists were free to kill people, and not a single soldier from the 800,000 army could reach there, but they shifted the blame to Pakistan within ten minutes,” he said.

Shahid Afridi stated that it was India’s own ‘blunder,’ adding that their government allegedly staged the attack. He also claimed that India deliberately made some videos go viral on the internet, alleging that those who had died in the attack were later found to be alive.

He emphasised that no country or religion supports terrorism, adding, “Pakistan and Islam have always promoted peace, and we have always advocated for peace with India.”

He also shared that during his cricketing career, the team always faced threats from India, saying, “We didn’t even know if we would be allowed to travel to India before the World Cup.”

He further questioned India’s double standards, stating that while cricket teams are not allowed to travel to India, the Indian kabaddi team is allowed to travel to Pakistan.

He maintained that if there are to be no relations, it should be applied universally and not just in cricket.
