A horrifying image showing a young Palestinian girl severed in half following an Israeli airstrike in Gaza sparked outrage, highlighting the ongoing and indiscriminate killing of children amid the continued Israeli military assault, with little to no international intervention to halt the bloodshed.

The disturbing picture, shared widely on social media, shows the girl’s torso and lower body ripped apart and lying in separate places. While the exact location in Gaza remains unclear, a Palestinian user, Heba, posted the image, claiming the victims were siblings.

A Palestinian journalist recorded the gut-wrenching scene, where the girl was torn apart due to the sheer intensity of the Israeli bombing, while her brother was thrown off a rooftop and injured.

Their family was reportedly targeted in the airstrike, leaving the child and his mother as the only survivors. Their father, who had recently been released from an Israeli prison, was also killed in the attack.

Gaza Notifications, a Palestinian news agency on X, confirmed that the girl’s five sisters, Zeina, Leen, Razan, Suad, and Jouri, were also killed in the strike.

The heartbreaking visuals, which capture the unbearable suffering of children in Gaza, triggered anger across social media. X users condemned the silence of world leaders and international organisations in the face of Israeli war crimes.

On Friday, 12 members of a single family were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza, as indiscriminate bombings continued across the enclave, killing innocent civilians and leaving thousands injured.

Since Israel broke the ceasefire, over 600 children have reportedly been killed. According to UNICEF, more than 15,000 children have died and over 34,000 have been injured since the beginning of the offensive on October 7, 2023.
