Authorities in Paris have arrested six individuals accused of displaying a Palestinian flag on the Eiffel Tower.

According to French police sources, the incident took place on Friday when a large Palestinian flag was unfurled from the first level of the Eiffel Tower. Officials stated that the act was carried out without permission.

The environmental activist group ERF claimed responsibility for the action, saying it was intended as a gesture of solidarity with Palestinians.

A representative of the organisation said the protest aimed to draw attention to the ongoing situation in Gaza and the alleged environmental destruction in Palestinian territories.

According to reports, the demonstration coincided with Nakba Day, which commemorates the displacement of Palestinians in 1948.

Images and videos of the incident have rapidly gone viral on social media, showing the Palestinian flag hanging from the Eiffel Tower.

It is worth noting that last year, images symbolising peace — including a dove and an olive branch alongside the Israeli and Palestinian flags — were projected onto the Eiffel Tower.
