The United States Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the University of California, accusing it of failing to address alleged anti-Semitic activity.
Officials claim the university did not do enough to prevent what has been described as an unsafe environment for Jewish students at its University of California, Los Angeles campus.
The Justice Department said that a lack of effective action by the administration could amount to a violation of federal law.
The university has not issued an immediate formal response to the lawsuit.
In November, a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from imposing a fine of more than $1 billion on the university.
The penalty had reportedly been linked to claims that the institution failed to curb anti-Semitic incidents on campus.
Earlier, in August, the US government suspended approximately $584 million in funding to the university following pro-Palestinian protests.
