The Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has quashed rumors of an extension to the September 30 deadline for filing income tax returns, urging taxpayers to submit their returns promptly to avoid penalties and legal consequences.
Taxpayers are reminded that individual and association of person (AOP) returns are due on or before September 30, while companies have until December 31.
Those with special tax years must also file by September 30
The FBR has cautioned that failure to meet the deadline will result in penalties and legal action.
Taxpayers are advised to file their returns immediately to avoid system delays that often occur when large numbers of taxpayers log in near the deadline .
The FBR's awareness campaign has already yielded impressive results, with over 1.8 million returns filed within 90 days ending on September 30.
