Schools, colleges to enjoy 65-day winter vacation

The Education Department of Balochistan has officially announced the winter vacation schedule for schools and colleges across the province.

According to a notification issued on Saturday, educational institutions in cold regions of Balochistan will remain closed from December 16, 2024, to February 28, 2025, for a duration of 65 days.

In contrast, educational institutions in the warmer regions will observe a shorter winter break from January 1 to January 10, 2025.

The decision comes as the temperature in the region continues to drop, with cold weather expected to persist. The move aligns with the seasonal needs of students and ensures their safety during the extreme winter months.

The announcement follows similar actions in other provinces, such as Punjab, where the Education Department declared winter holidays for both private and government schools.

In Punjab, schools will be closed from December 20, 2024, to January 10, 2025, giving students a 20-day break.

Local meteorologists predict a further drop in temperatures in Balochistan in the coming weeks, with mountainous areas experiencing sub-zero temperatures.
