Lahore: The Punjab Home Department has sent an official letter to the School Education Department, recommending the inclusion of ‘Good Touch, Bad Touch’ awareness in the school curriculum.

According to the letter, educating children about personal safety is a necessity. The department has advised that awareness regarding inappropriate behavior be incorporated into the syllabus of early-grade students.

The letter further states that with proper education and awareness, children will be able to recognize and report inappropriate behavior.

Parents and teachers must guide children on how to report such incidents both at home and outside.

Highlighting the long-term impact of child abuse, the letter notes that victims of sexual exploitation can suffer trauma throughout their lives.

It emphasizes that protecting children and ensuring strict legal action against offenders is the state’s responsibility.

The Punjab Home Department has also stressed that children should be taught not to fear perpetrators but to expose them.

Experts should be consulted to develop a specialized ‘Good Touch, Bad Touch’ module for inclusion in the curriculum.

Given the sensitivity of the issue, the department has urged authorities to formulate an immediate action plan to safeguard future generations.
