Olympic gold-medalist Arshad Nadeem is aiming for gold as he gears up for the Asian Athletics Championship after a 10-month break. The Olympian, who brought glory to Pakistan with a historic performance at the Paris Olympics, has completed his final preparations and is determined to set a new record.

Taking to X, Nadeem requested prayers from the nation ahead of his departure for Korea.

“Heading to Korea for the Asian Athletics Championships! Would love your support and prayers for a winning performance,” he wrote on Instagram.

The top javelin thrower has undergone five months of rigorous training under the supervision of coach Salman Butt. Speaking to media, Arshad expressed confidence in his performance, stating that while Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra has achieved a 90-meter throw, he is not under any pressure.

“My competition is with myself. I want to improve my own record and I’m hopeful for a strong showing at the event,” he said.

He added that this will be his first major competition since the Olympics.

The Asian Championship is a significant milestone. It will be held in Korea from May 27 to 31, with my event scheduled on the final day.

I’m determined to win the title with the prayers and support of the nation,” he said.

Coach Salman Butt also expressed optimism, noting that the training has been intense and results are expected to be positive.

It is worth mentioning that Arshad Nadeem made history at the Paris Olympics with a record-breaking 92.97-meter throw, the longest in Olympic javelin history, securing Pakistan’s first Olympic gold medal in 40 years.
