Pakistan has requested the Washington-based global lender to allow collection of upcoming quarterly tariff adjustments (QTAs) and Fuel Price Adjustments (FPAs) of Rs7.50 per unit over a period of the next four to six months.
A day earlier, it was reported that the caretaker government decided to provide relief of Rs3000 to consumers using up to 300 units in October’s electricity bills.
Sources said that power consumers who have received bills of Rs60,000 to Rs70,000 will get a relief of Rs13,000.
However, the request was rejected by the IMF, dampening hopes of inflation-weary people of Pakistan.
